Nashik for most of the travelers is associated as religious tour because of shirdi, but no one can imagine how beautiful nashik and its ourskirts could be in monsoons.  As a group tour we were planning to identify some near Mumbai, which could be worth going for a 2-3 day trip.  After discussing on lonavala, Mahabaleshwar, hariharan beach etc we finally agreed on going to Trimkeshwar near Nashik.T

It took more than 4 hours for us to reach the place as its a hilly trek and during the monsoon time there are too many traffic jams.  But the route to Nashik during monsoon in itself is worth seeing.  Mountains peaks with greenery all around and waterfall through out on the way gives a mesmerizing view.

When we reached our resort, Eco Village at Trimbakeshwar road some 29 Km from Nashik it was almost sunset so we decided to take rest and plan for Trimbakeshwar next morning.  Weather was wonderful and there were light to medium rain showers after every half an hour

Trimbakeshwar

Trimbakeshwar is considered as one of the holiest place in hindu religion as it is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, a form of lord shiva in the country.  Situated on the foot hills of Brahma giri hills it is also the orgin of Godavari river which orginates from Brahmagiri hills.  Its a beautiful temple with small market near by which one can generally see in all holy places in india.  Darshan is not easy as there is too much rush and advance booking need to be done.  As we were aware of the rush hence we decided to visit the temple at 5 o clock in the morning. After visiting the temple and Godavari kund nearby, we decided to take lumch and proceed to Soma village.

Soma Vineyard
Soma vineyard is a unique place to visit.  Its situated in a large compound and one can see the grapevines all over the place.  Inside the compound there is a small processing unit where they also offer wine testing, of course with some charges.  Inside the building there is demo plant and the entire processing is demonstrated by the staff.  Best part is the wine testing for which each of us was waiting.  They have some 8 different flavors and each of them were great.

Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Park, kasara ghat, Vaitairna River etc are worth visiting as everything during this season becomes beautiful and where ever you stop looks like a tourist spot.
